Heidi Zimbler

Heidi Zimbler has have been a professional artist working in clay for the past 20 years. Her specialty has been pottery, ornaments, jewelry and tiles. In 1999, she joined the art faculty at Grier School where she currently teaches courses in design, jewelry making and ceramics.

Mrs. Zimbler graduated from the State University of New York with a B.A. in Fine Arts. She has completed some graduate studies through Penn State University and is a long-standing member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania and the Potter's Guild of Central Pennsylvania.

A native of Bavaria, Germany, Mrs. Zimbler works predominantly in white porcelain clay with cobalt blue, green and rose under glazes, drawing from her heritage to influence many of her decorative designs. Her studio is located at 214 Wyoming Ave., Pennsylvania Furnace, PA 16865. Heidi also displays her work at The Gallery Shop in Lemont. You can find out more about her from her website by clicking here.

Mrs. Zimbler enjoys teaching at Grier where she is able to share her knowledge and experiences with a diverse community of young women. She feels that Grier's art program provides an outlet for self-expression, intellectual exploration, and critical thinking. By learning to appreciate and understand the artistic process, they are able to enhance their pursuits in other academic disciplines.

A note from Mrs. Zimbler: My work is made of porcelain clay, wheel thrown and painted with colored slips, and high fired with clear glaze. All my work is oven proof, microwaveable and dishwasher safe. The pieces are functional as well as decorative and I do special orders for personalized work, such as wedding favors, baby, wedding, anniversary, and retirement plates, mugs, crocks, etc.
