I started in 1983 as a part-time teacher and moved into full time in ‘85. Many of you will remember me from the science department, teaching everything from physical & earth science to biology and astronomy. It was a busy time with lots of classes and the science fairs that we used to hold. I was famous for my 40-minute field trips out to some rock quarry or cave. The latter part of my tenure in science had me heading the department and overseeing the construction of our new science building.
When the Dubbels retired, I took over Sy’s photography classes and yearbook advisory position in ‘95. As the photography classes became more popular, I was fortunate to also help oversee the construction of a new photography studio and darkroom during the summer of ‘02 made possible by the generous contributions of the Snyder family.
At the start of ‘05 I moved into photography full time and keep busy with 5 classes and the yearbook. My greatest joy continues to come from teaching and hanging out with my students, as well as playing in the school rock band.
On the home front I’m still farming 20 acres of fruits, veggies, and hay and maintaining a menagerie of animals with a horse, cow, 7 sheep, chickens, 2 dogs and 2 cats with my wife, Pam Kavanaugh. I have a daughter in college and a son who graduated this year from college.
