The Costume Design class at Grier introduces students to machine sewing, pattern making, costume illustration and building original designs. The class also produces costumes for Grier School dance and drama productions.
Under the guidance of Mrs. Cave, students may progress to the point where they are able to prepare very advanced designs such as graduation dresses. Grier's well-equipped costume design studio and easy access to facilities helps advanced students complete their projects on schedule.
Mrs. Cave often refers to her class as "The Sweat Shop" because they have to work for very fixed deadlines. For this reason, students often spend extra time evenings and weekends working on major projects.
