Under the able instruction of teacher Yong-Sook Kim Lambert, students learn the ancient Asian techniques of Shibori, Batik and Tie-Dye. Grier's well-equipped fabric arts studio contains all the supplies necessary for work in this medium.

Batik class
The batik course is designed to provide each student with a basic knowledge of 'batik' and an introduction to fiber art. Some of the projects we did include: painting on rice paper using the batik technique, designing a bandanna using the Shibori technique, creating a fabric design shoulder bag using relief printing, and a quilt using the sun printing method. Laurie Cave also teaches fabric arts as part of the costume design class taught to prepare students for post-secondary studies in the field of art. In this class, fabric and fiber art techniques are studies in forms ranging from quilts to garments.
