Dear Parent:

I am sending you information regarding Graduation 2012. Please read it carefully and do not hesitate to call me with any questions. This year the week begins with the seniors participating in the senior class trip to Virginia Beach from May 20-23, 2012. The class will return to Grier on Wednesday for graduation rehearsals. The week culminates with your daughter’s commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 26, 2012.

Please note the Graduation festivities are a two-day event beginning on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. and concluding on Saturday, May 26 around 2:30p.m. Enclosed you will find the following information about the Grier School Commencement:

Graduation Announcements

Announcements may be purchased through the Grier School Bookstore. Please contact Gretchen Hensor to place your orders. The telephone number is: 814-684-3000 extension 123.

Graduation Dress

Seniors will need: one all-white short length dress, one all-white long dress, and plain white shoes.

Graduation Photos

A professional photographer will be on campus to take individual photos of the senior, her server and a group photo of the graduating class. These photos are available for purchase during graduation weekend. (See enclosed flyer)

Senior/Parent/Faculty Dinner

Parents, relatives and close friends are invited to attend. Each senior is given tickets to this dinner. If some girls do not expect many guests, their unused seats may be given to other seniors needing additional tickets.

Seniors’ Departure Responsibilities

All seniors will have their dormitory rooms cleaned, belongings packed, and ready for a final inspection prior to graduation. All belongings must be sent home prior to graduation since no boxes will be shipped for seniors after Saturday, May 26, 2012.

Graduation Schedule:

Friday, May 25

8:30 a.m.                       A senior breakfast sponsored by a Grier School Alum will be held at Mrs. Grier’s home. This is a seniors-only event.

9:30 a.m.                       Final graduation rehearsal.

6:00 p.m.                       Senior/Parent/Faculty Banquet (Gymnasium)

8:00 p.m.                       Senior Music and Dance Recital-Dance Building

9:30 p.m.                      Candlelight Ceremony-School Colonnade (This is an “ancient” tradition at Grier and very special for the seniors and servers).

Saturday, May 26

9:30 a.m.                       All graduates meet in the library to prepare for the Baccalaureate ceremony.

10:00 a.m.                    Baccalaureate- Dance Studio. All guests are invited.

11:00 a.m.                    Buffet lunch will be served in the Gymnasium for all Grier guests.

11:00 a.m.                    Senior/Server individual and group pictures will be taken in the living room area.

1:00 p.m.                       Graduation- Dance Building

Immediately following the graduation ceremony, all seniors may leave after cleaning their rooms and meeting with the business office. Please check that your daughter leaves her room clean and orderly. We will not ship items left behind.

To the Graduating Class of Grier School:

Below I have provided a couple of Portrait Packages that our Studio will be offering you the day of your Graduation. These packages have worked well for us in the past on any occasion we have photographed.

All Sales Tax has been added to the package price. So there is no need to add it on. Also ALL ORDERS must be paid for in full when ordering. You may use Cash, Checks or Credit Card. We will have a clerk available Friday evening and Saturday morning to assist you with your orders.

We also ask that all addresses outside the United States be correct so we may get all orders to you on time. If there are special codes that need to be added please feel free to add them. When you write your address on the label we give you this is what we use for mailing.

Hotel & Other Services Information

Dear Grier Parents:

Graduation will be here before you know it! Grier’s Graduation festivities are a two day event, which begins Friday, May 25 and ends Saturday, May 26, 2012

Below you will find contact information for many of our local-area hotels; and taxi and rent-a-car services.

Some area hotels have special rates for our Grier families. You must call the hotels directly to make your reservations and to inquire about the “Grier Event” special rates. Reservations must be made three weeks prior to the event date.                        
PLEASE BOOK AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE!!
