Three Teachers Join Grier's Faculty

Grier school is happy to introduce three new Faculty members this year:  Ms. Liz Wortman (History), Ms. Mikaela Leners (Science), and Ms. Samantha Knepp (Science). They each have much to offer Grier and look forward to being a part of Grier's tightly-knit community.
The History Department welcomes the well-traveled Ms. Liz Wortman to the team. During her studies at Juniata College, where Ms. Wortman received her bachelor's degree in Social Studies Secondary Education, she had the opportunity to study abroad extensively, including cities and regions in Africa, England, and Spain.

Ms. Mikaela Leners joins the Science Department, teaching physics. In addition to her physics background at Iowa State University, she minored in astronomy, biology and English. At Iowa State, she alternated her time between working in an astronomy lab where she studied variable stars and working in an English lab where she researched Romantic Era mathematicians and poets. She previously taught physics and astronomy in New Hampshire, and she is excited to teach at Grier.

Ms. Samantha Knepp has worked at Grier previously as a tutor and a substitute teacher and is serving as a long-term substitute, teaching physics classes in the Science Department for Mrs. Kelly Forest who is conducting a research sabbatical. Ms. Knepp received her B.S. in Physics from Penn State University and has completed the coursework for her Masters of Education, also from Penn State. She looks forward to helping students achieve their personal best in this year's Envirothon Competition.
