A Stellar Evening of Painting for Astronomy Club

Usually, members of Astronomy Club are meeting at the Andrew Wilson Observatory to observe celestial bodies and cosmic events, but they recently spent an evening at a painting workshop to create marvelous scenes of the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights, over a lake nestled in pine-covered mountains.
The girls in astronomy club enjoyed a field trip to Edgewater Inn where they attended a painting workshop with  Rebecca Reck of Bluebird Designs. Reck walked the girls through the painting step-by-step. Though the final pieces were similar, each was unique.

Grier's Astronomy Club is one of the most active clubs at Grier, making great use out of the observatory facility and star-gazing equipment. Members recently observed the Taurid meteor-shower, learned a special technique to create composite photos of star trails, and contemplated the spectacle of the luminous November "supermoon."
