Campers are assigned to a unit of 6 to 10 girls the same age. At least two staff members are assigned to each unit. Each unit sits together for meals. Roll call and announcements are before lunch. Weekend activity times vary, with breakfast at 9am and lunch at 12:30pm.
Fifteen minutes is alloted between activities for transition time for traveling from place to place and changing clothes if necessary.
At Grier Summer, girls stay busy with programming and fun activities throughout their day. Recreational Campers get to pick from a variety of activities to fill their four activity periods. Campers in an Intensive Program spend three of their four activity periods immersed in a single concentration but still get to fill one activity period with something they pick – maybe something new to them or an activity just for fun. After lunch, we have some leisure time built in to help campers transition into the afternoon. We find this time helpful especially for our campers in intensive programs. During leisure time, campers can decide what they need individually; options such as swimming, siesta, composing a letter home, catching up on laundry, crafting will be available daily.
By 9:45 p.m., campers are back in the dormitories and getting ready for bed. Exact times for lights out depend on the campers' age and the activities of the day. However, all campers must be in their rooms at 10:45 pm.
