Grier Singers Perform at Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Last month, members of Grier's elite choir, Select Singers, performed at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Altoona. The performance was part of the church's concert series that showcases the inaugural year of a newly acquired pipe organ.
This performance and the entire concert series serve as a fund-raising campaign to offset the great expense of the new organ. The new smaller pipe organ replaces the aging organ from the 1960s and maximizes the view of the stained glass window that had been obscured by the old organ. While the concerts are free of charge, attendees are invited to contribute donations toward the new organ. Grier singers and their choir director, Mrs. Ginger Reinhardt, appreciated the opportunity to perform.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel's Organ Series is on-going, with an recital featuring a variety of French organ music scheduled for this Sunday afternoon. The church intends to continue the concert series in the future, so perhaps Grier choirs will have another opportunity to perform at this lovely church.
