Knitters Donate Blanket to Daycare
Knitting Club members completed a blanket to donate to charity. Knitters pieced the blanket from 7”x7” mitered squares knitted of wool yarn in shades of blue and gray. Heather P., 2019 Grier graduate, had the idea for the blanket during her sophomore year. The Knitting Club donated the blanket to a local daycare.
While the pattern for the mitered square is relatively easy, many novice knitters found it challenging to knit at the same gauge so that the squares were equal sizes. This is not the only work knitting club has performed for charity. The club has also created hats for chemotherapy patients in local hospitals. The club advisor, Mrs. Curtis, teaches Fiber Arts at Grier. One of her classes created dog toys from cord to donate to a local animal shelter.
