Grier Rocks Envirothon!
Three teams of Grier students competed against other area high schools in an Envirothon event hosted by Juniata College at the Raystown Lake Field Station on Raystown Lake in Huntingdon Country, Pennsylvania. One Grier team came in 3rd place! Rachel S, Clare E, Abby S, and Maggie A also tied for high score in current events as well as placing 3rd.
Science teachers Mrs. Kallie Brubaker and Mrs. Samantha Knepp advise Grier's Envirothon team. According to the Pennsylvania Envirothon website, "Envirothon is a fun, academic event. It challenges high school students to think critically about the natural world and their roles in it. Envirothon combines in-class curriculum and outdoor training, helping students to learn more about Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Soil & Land Use, Wildlife, and Current Environmental Issues."
Grier's 2019 Envirothon participants included: Abby S, Maggie A, Vivien Z, Rachel S, Clare E, Ci Ci X, Betsi D, Alex Z, Iris C, Lily L, Emily Gao W, Isabella H, Lizzy P, Mila X.
