Retiring Faculty Members Honored
During a special end-of-the-year celebration, Grier honored three retiring faculty members. Mrs. Neumuller, Mr. Neumuller, and Mrs. Silverman are all retiring in 2019. Mrs. Borst and the entire Grier community honored the retirees by presenting them with flowers and parting gifts. Buntings bearing photos, both recent and from long in the past, festooned the Borst residence porch, along with a message of "Congrats!" After some words of gratitude and farewell, Mrs. Borst presented the retirees with bouquets and books filled with messages from their Grier colleagues.
Mrs. Barbara Neumueller, Grier's Music Department Chair and Orchestral Director reitres after decades of leading young Grier instrumentalists. Her husband, Mr. Don Neumuller is a newer addition to Grier, but was pivotal in establishing and developing Grier's Digital Video and Recording Technology curricula. The couple looks forward to their retirement on a property not far from State College, Pennsylvania, where they can enjoy their hobbies of gardening, birding, photography, and making music! Mrs. Kim Silverman, also retired. Mrs. Silverman has worked at Grier, first as a Spanish teacher, then a Drama teacher, and even as an ESL teacher. Many know her from her work in recent years directing Grier's stage plays. Mrs. Silverman plans to explore new horizons in her retirement and will likely stay involved in the local theatre circuit.
Grier's Select Singers choir gave a moving tribute to Mrs. Neumuller by performing the beautiful song she had composed about Grier School.
Grier wishes to thank Mrs. Neumuller, Mr. Neumuller, and Mrs. Silverman for all they've done for Grier. The Grier community will miss all of you, but wishes you the absolute best! Congratulations!
