Grier’s Ms. Barr Receives Master’s Degree from Middlebury College
Grier wishes to extend congratulations to English teacher Ms. Katt Barr for completing her Master’s Degree in English Literature from Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English. Ms. Barr was presented with the degree this August by the President of Middlebury College. This is Ms. Barr’s second Master’s Degree, as she also has a Masters of Education from Lock Haven University.
Ms. Barr has been a teacher in Grier’s English department since 2007, where she began teaching ninth grade students, but has spent the past several years teaching Grier’s juniors British Literature, which she adores. The pursuit of an advanced degree over the course of five summer sessions at Middlebury demonstrates her personal drive to expand her knowledge and serve as a role model to her students. The coursework involved in the degree directly affects Ms. Barr’s lesson preparation and depth of knowledge of the material. Now, back at Grier, she looks forward to sharing her love of British Literature along with her fond memories of the Green Mountains of Vermont.
In addition to teaching British Literature, Ms. Barr coaches Grier’s Archery Team, supervises the fitness center on Sundays, and often takes photographs of Grier Athletics. Her students and colleagues also know Ms. Barr has a great talent for baking and are often the happy recipients of her delectable baked goods!
