Grier Choir Members Sing "In High Voice" with Penn State
Six members of Grier’s Choir attended the “In High Voice Festival” hosted by the Penn State Oriana Singers at Penn State University on Saturday, February 1st. Along with their Grier Choir Director Mrs. Ginger Reinhart, Amber Y., Liza E., Debbie G., Logan W., Ashley S., and Charlotte M. attended the event designed to motivate treble singers to sing throughout high school and beyond.
The Penn State Music Department website provides a description of the event as a festival open to students who sing in the treble register and are in grades 9-12. The event was limited to 125 participants, including complete choirs, select groups, and individuals. The Penn State Oriana Singers joined the participants for rehearsals and a performance in the new Recital Hall on Penn State’s University Park campus.
During the morning session, the group learned two pieces. Then, after lunch, they learned three more pieces before concluding with an informal concert performance.
The repertoire included:
Aure Volanti-Francesca Caccini
A Girl's Garden-Randall Thompson
Hark, I Hear The Harps Eternal-arr. Alice Parker
I Will Be Earth-Gwenyth Walker
Musica est Dei-Orlando di Lasso
The choir members loved this chance to perform in a combined choir and they sounded great!
