Black Lives Matter Booklist
Recognizing the importance of the Black Lives Matter movement and efforts for social justice, Grier's library has created a booklist that supports the Black Lives Matter movement. Within the list are books that have appeal to younger readers and some that will appeal to more mature readers. Among the selections are works of fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, and poetry. Many of the titles included on the list have been recognized with awards and critical praise.
Books on this list are great conversation starters for teens and adults to engage in discussions about race and justice. This list supports the lead taken by Grier students to create safe spaces to have open dialogues through student-run groups like Beyond the Bubble and Bridge Club. At Grier, students listen, learn, and respectfully discuss a variety of topics affecting society today.
Books on this list can be borrowed by Grier students while they are attending school in-person. The student can visit the library or use their Destiny catalog account to place a Hold on books they would like to borrow. Librarian Mrs. Woolfrey will check out requested holds in the order they are received and send students an email when their requested items are available.
