Grier Musicians Rock out at Rockfest
Grier musicians and vocalists took to the Auditorium stage Friday evening for Grier's wildest music concert of the year: Rockfest! The student-faculty Rock Band performed over twenty new and classic pop and rock songs under the colorful lights of the Auditorium stage.
The students who performed are a part of Rock Band, one of Grier's music ensembles. Along with music teachers Mrs. Neumuller, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Dennis, and Mr. Folsom, Photography teacher Mr. Pingry and English teacher Mr. Lang were among the teachers who accompanied the students for an exciting show.
Grier students, faculty and staff members, and their families came out for the fun evening of music that covered several decades. Numbers included Cyndi Lauper's 80s anthem Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Eva Cassidy's sweet Songbird, Fiona Apple's sultry 90s ballad Criminal, Rachel Platten's Stand By You, the Eurythmics' electronic SweetDreams, Jolene performed in the style of Pentatonix/Miley Cyrus/Dolly Parton, Ryn Weaver's Octahate, Madonna's Like a Prayer, Postmodern Jukebox's country-western take on Wrecking Ball, and ended the show with the Spice Girls girl-power anthem Wannabe.
Grier student musicians and vocalists rocked this concert and showed the audience that hard work at practices pays off with great results, catchy beats, and glorious harmonies.
