Blast From The Past!
Astronomers look back in time to study the origins of the Universe. Here's a look back to the year 2014 and the origins of some of our Grier School space enthuasiasts!
Grier School astronomy students collaborated to design and construct a cardboard geodome comprised of isosceles and equilateral triangles. The dome was used as a planetarium for summer camp and astronomy club students. Teams would come into the gymnasium and work together to lay out and clip pentagon shapes together. Then, we'd all go inside to look at stars and galaxies projected onto the interior. Sadly, our dome finally succumbed to age collapsed from humidity, never to be erected again. One if its features was a glow in the dark TARDIS door (for the Dr. Who fans out there). Although the planetarium itself was donated to summer camp to be used for Boat Wars, we kept the doorway to remember how cool our geodome was.
