Students Develop Scorekeeping Apps

One of the newest courses at Grier is a computer programming course called Honors Mobile Apps. In this course, students use the mobile app framework React Native to develop applications for Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, and other platforms.
Teacher Ms. Carol Deremer describes programming with React Native as a “cross between JavaScript and HTML/CSS.”  She shared screenshots of the latest scorekeeping app designs of students Judy and Adele and some code.

Ms. Deremer notes, “It’s a lot more complicated than it looks. I am very proud of what they’ve accomplished so far and am hopeful we will have some fully functioning apps by the end of the year.”

Below is the code for Adele's Tennis Scorekeeper:

Impressive work!  We can't wait to see what these students do next!
