Grier’s Chamber Orchestra performed a winter concert in the auditorium on Friday, March 5th. The concert theme was rising out of the darkness. Director Mr. Mark Minnich explained the pieces progress from dark to light, like winter into spring.
The concert began with John William’s Theme From Schindler’s List, followed by the Renaissance melody Fantasia on “Greensleeves” by Ralph Vaughn Williams, and concluding with an midwestern American song of Thanksgiving, Jingle Bells Hoedown, arranged by Robert Kerr.
Grier musicians plan to perform several more times throughout the semester. The performances are listed on the Grier calendar with Mr. Minnich’s solo performance coming up this Thursday, March 11th at 1:30pm in the Auditorium. Grier will hold a Jazz Concert on Wednesday, March 24th, a Movie Music Concert on April 24th, and a Classical Chamber Music Concert on May 6th.
