Students Present at Local Middle School

Grier students recently gave presentations to social studies classes at Huntingdon Area Middle School. The presentations, given by Grier’s international students from Russia, Korea, China, Vietnam, and West Africa helped middle schoolers learn about the languages, foods, music, and other aspects of culture from around the world.
The Grier students used slideshow presentations, demonstrations on the classroom marker board, played instruments, and brought in objects from their native culture, including clothing, art, currency, and more. The event was organized by ESL Department Head, Mrs. Marie Shaffer. Students from Mr. Don Neumuller’s Video Production class documented the event through photos and video.

This was a great opportunity for the middle school students to learn more about world cultures. The Grier students benefitted from the experience by fortifying their public speaking and presentation skills and sharing a meaningful connection with local young people. The event is an example of how Grier provides local community service and builds good rapport with local institutions.
