Costa Rica Spring Break Trip

A small group of students accompanied two Grier science teachers on a Spring Break trip to Costa Rica. The trip included lots of educational opportunities, adventures, and even community service!

The tour began with a bus ride through a cloud forest to the Atlantic coastline and a boat trip to the hotel. The group enjoyed the warm weather and the vast array of plants and animals. One morning, the group took a river cruise and saw many animals including spider monkeys, howler monkeys, birds, and reptiles before visiting a school and a tiny town named Tortugueros. Later in the journey, the group visited some hot springs followed by kayaking and swimming on Lake Arenal. They walked along the suspension bridges, went horseback riding, and even enjoyed a nighttime jungle tour to see amazing creatures like the red-eyed tree frog and scorpion spider. The group saw Monteverdi, Jaco Beach, and Drake Bay where they snorkeled and performed volunteer work cleaning up the beach. During the last day, the group took a crocodile tour and then went white water rafting and jumped into the river. What an adventure!
