Grier's Varsity Athletes are Ready to Play

It’s officially fall and Varsity Sports at Grier are in gear! In addition to Varsity-level Competitive Riding, Grier athletes compete with area schools in Tennis, Soccer, Volleyball, and Cross-Country.
Most of the teams experienced their first games and meets this week. Soccer kicked off their season with a home game versus Tussey Mountain. Although Tussey took the win, the team coached by Mr. Packnick and Mrs. Putt showed grit in their efforts to score against their relentless opponent.

Cross-Country, coached by Grier’s AP Calculus teacher Mrs. Danielle Kelley, trained for their first meet by running laps around the hilly Grier campus. They raced against Cambria Heights High School on Wednesday, and ran an excellent first race of the season! Edie M. finished in first place overall, and Danielle B. finished third.

Tennis is off to an excellent start with an away win against Shanksville-Stoneycreek High School and, following up their away win against Winber High School, Grier Foxes won at their recent rematch at home.

Volleyball serves up its first match this Saturday at home, versus Mercersberg Academy.  Go Grier!

The teams appreciate the support of Grier fans. Come out and cheer them on!  For a list of dates and times, see Grier Athletics.
