At Grier School, we are proud of our diverse student community and culture. This year it is our goal to highlight our Grier Girls in their own words. Our new series, Meet Grier, introduces our students to our extended community while showcasing their achievements and stories.
MEET ANNIE Q. '21

- Year: Senior

- Age/Grade Started at Grier: 7th Grade
How Did you Decide to Attend Grier?
At first my Mom made me go here because schools where I lived didn't offer a good educational environment, but now I genuinely like going here.
Why do you prefer the all-girls school environment?
No sexual harassment here, I feel expected to do well in my classes, and I'm encouraged to express myself.
Are you a member or officer of any clubs/organizations?
I am currently a member of the Model UN Club
Do you participate in any Signature Programs or activities? Which and why do you enjoy them?
I dance (beginner), I enjoy it because it is mentally stimulating while also being a workout.
What has been your favorite memory or story from your time at Grier?
Last Halloween Mrs. Borst called us all to the gym, sounding very angry. We all thought someone got caught doing something super bad, and we were all gonna get yelled at for it. When she came in, she was dressed as a witch, and revealed to us all the haunted house that was planned for that night. It was so fun!
What are you most excited about for this year?
I'm excited to finalize my college applications and just enjoy my last year here.
What is your favorite tradition at Grier and why?
My favorite tradition is going to school on Halloween in your costume. I also love when we have spirit week and everyone gets to dress up and do activities.
What advice or message would you share with future Grier Girls?
Work smarter not harder. Seven AP classes aren't going to help you if you aren't sleeping so that you can finish the homework. It's better to have a schedule you can work with, I promise!
Just for fun - what is your favorite class, quote, book, recipe, movie, tv show, or podcast?
My favorite TV shows are probably Legacies, The 100, and The Fringe. They're all fantasy and so entertaining.
