On Saturday, Grier brought a popular Italian restaurant to campus. When they arrived for their dinner reservations, students entered a Coffee Shop that was transformed into fine Italian dining. Melodies from the "old world" sang from Mr. Mark Minnich's violin, white tablecloths and flickering candlelight made this a special evening with friends.
The meal began with a sampling of Grier's finest sparkling grape juice. Then, diners selected from a menu of pasta, sauces, and protein toppings. Plus, they enjoyed the signature salad and breadsticks. After the meal, they selected from the dessert menu, which featured chocolate mousse, raspberry white chocolate, and strawberry cheesecake.
To make the experience even more authentic, members of Grier's faculty and staff wore white shirts and black aprons while they played host, server, and cook.
This is one of many creative events that Grier's Activities Director Holly Carper and several other members of Grier's staff and faculty have been designing to provide students with fun experiences while remaining safely on campus.
Ms. Holly looks forward to more events like this in the future, and she says she has table tacos from Chipotle in mind next! Sounds delicious!
