Grier’s Varsity Soccer team is looking strong! This group of wonderful and hard-working young women is coached by Grier math teacher Mrs. Jenn Payne. The soccer team is one of Grier’s biggest teams, with a total of twenty-three students, many of whom are new to Grier.
The team captains are Jaden H., Linden M. and Alexis W. The team’s managers are Allie S., Sophia J., Olivia M., Syd C., and Rachel L. The rest of the team includes: Tam P., Gia S., Emily D., Valentine E., Regina S., Mary D., Molly K., Jenny K., Mariana A., Soaleze B., Ana M., Nancy X., Hallie S., Chantelle H., and Alexia Y.
Recently, the team faced off with Chestnut Ridge High School. It was a hard-fought battle, with the more experienced Chestnut Ridge team taking home the victory. Despite losses like this one, the Grier soccer team continues to improve. One of the team captains, Senior Linden M., states, "I am so proud of the progress we have made over the last few weeks. We have all bonded during practices and I really enjoy playing with these girls. Each game gets better and better!" Indeed, by working as a team, the Foxes can win some of the upcoming games! The team will travel for their upcoming match against Mercersburg Academy, but will be back at home on Wednesday, October 18th for a 3pm game versus Grace Prep Christian High School. This will be their last home game, so come out and cheer for the Foxes!
