Day Students

The Day Student program started at Grier with the 2010-2011 academic year. We currently have girls in grades seven through 12 from State College, Altoona, Hollidaysburg, Huntingdon, Bellwood, as far away as Cresson, and places in between. Girls whose home school district is within ten miles of Grier are bussed by their local school systems. Girls who live farther away are transported by their parents.

Day students follow the same guidelines and rules as the boarding students, including their timely arrival to class and participation in sports. They are encouraged to participate in the many extracurricular activities and clubs available and to enjoy Grier’s weekend trips.

Two student lounge areas, located within the school’s dormitory and cottage facilities, provide day students with lockers and designated areas for study and relaxation. While day students may not stay on campus overnight, students within a 50 mile radius can participate in a five-day boarding program at a reduced cost.

Financial Aid

Those who would like to be considered for merit-based financial aid awards are required to take the SSAT, a standardized admissions test used by independent schools across the US. The test is focused on assessing students’ verbal, math, and reading skills and can be completed on a computer at home.

Visit the SSAT at Home page to register. Grier School’s code is 3586. Be sure to list our school code so that we receive the official test scores from the SSAT Board.
