NHS Induction Ceremony Welcomes New Members
In a special all-school assembly on Monday, May 20th, the Grier chapter of the National Honor Society inducted twenty new members. These individuals exemplified the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.
After words from organization advisor, Mrs. Michele Thibodeau, current NHS members performed the official ceremony, which included a symbolic lighting of candles.
As NHS members, Grier students have additional opportunities to lead and serve Grier and the local community. During the 2018-19 school year, NHS members led several community service events. During Parents Weekend in October, the club hosted a 5K walk/run that raised money for the Malala Fund. The club has a strong partnership with the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library and helped with Halloween and Holiday events. To foster kindness and serve the Grier community, NHS orchestrated a Secret Santa gift exchange. In February, the group led Grier in celebrating “I am Beautiful Day” by creating and posting inspiring posters and producing a video about individual beauty. In the spring, the club sold Tea for Bees to raise money for Heifer International.
