Musicians Explore Diverse Sources

Grier students are happy to be making music once again with instruments and with their voices. Grier's Orchestra Director Mr. Mark Minnich is leading the instrumental musicians in an exciting journey. He states, "this year, we're engaging with great music by underrepresented composers and performers as a launching point for challenging discussions. Encountering music by women, people of color, songs written in protest and to push boundaries creates a rich and diverse experience for Grier musicians."
Meanwhile vocalists like Simone T. and Hannah N. continue to work with Mrs. Ginger Reinhardt and Ms. Julia Natoli in a combination of in-person and virtual voice lessons and choirs.

While our musicians and instructors must take precautionary measures that include masks, face shields, and social distancing, they have adapted readily and look forward to performing before remote audiences.  As Mr. Minnich notes, "We've got a wide variety of music to keep things interesting, and our recording projects and digital options ensure that everyone gets a well-rounded experience."

We can't wait to hear more from our Grier musicians and vocalists!
