Students at Grier come from all over the world and often delight in learning about each other's cultures and traditions. In honor of Lunar New Year, a group of students and Mrs. Harriet Grier arranged a special treat for the whole school to enjoy.
Some of Grier's Asian students helped decorate the living room with festive red and gold decorations, symbolizing prosperity, good luck, joy, and beauty. Grier Dining Services staff members helped Mrs. Grier lay out a marvelous spread of candies, cookies, cakes, and other goodies purchased from an East Asian Market.
The tradition of Lunar New Year is celebrated in countries throughout eastern Asia. The year 2017 is the year of the Rooster, a symbol of hard work and diligence. While our Grier students are certainly hardworking and diligent, they surely enjoyed this celebratory reprise during their school day.
