Grier's Sister Act is Fabulous, Baby!

Sister Act was as, main character Deloris envisions herself: fabulous! Our talented students showcased an impressive amount of dedication to the production across the board.

Audiences loved the onstage talent, applauding the stunning vocal talents of our singers and laughing at the comedic moments. Impressively, while garbed in uniform habits, the actors playing the nuns thoughtfully depicted each with distinctive personalities, from Sister Mary Patrick's perpetual sunny disposition to Sister Mary Lazarus' gloom. Grier girls also took on the male roles for the play and executed them with great finesse. Dancers from Grier's Intermediate and Advanced Jazz classes and the Pre-Professional program performed exquisite routines to the groovy music created by the orchestra, perched high in the balcony, directly across from the sound and light booth.

The Grier musical is always a special event, not only because it is wonderfully entertaining, but because it is the product of massive cross-discipline collaboration between our many talented students and faculty members. Along with lighting and sound technicians, costumes, and prop crews behind the scenes, actors, singers, dancers, and musicians work together to produce a successful show. The musical allows many to develop their musical theatre skills by stepping outside their comfort zone, with dancers doing some singing and singers doing some dancing, for instance.

We loved Sister Act. Congratulations to all who were involved in bringing this story to Grier's stage!
