Grier Summer

Meet Grier Series - Meet Grace A. ‘23!

At Grier School, we are proud of our diverse student community and culture. This year it is our goal to highlight our Grier Girls in their own words. Our new series, Meet Grier, introduces our students to our extended community while showcasing their achievements and stories.

MEET GRACE A. '23

    • Name: Grace A.
    • "Home" when you're not at Grier?: I live in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, about 20 minutes away from Grier.
    • Year: Sophomore
    • Years Attended Grier: 4
    • Age/Grade Started at Grier: 7th Grade, but I began attending Grier Summer Camp at age 11.

Why/How Did you Decide to Attend Grier?

I decided to attend Grier for the Musical Theatre Program, the Academic program, and the incredible community.

Why do you prefer the all-girls school environment?

I prefer an all girls school environment because Grier creates a very tight knit community of strong women.

Are you a member or officer of any clubs/organizations?

    Grier school Ambassadors

Do you participate in any Signature Programs or activities?

I participate in the Musical Theatre Program, and the Dance Program.

What has been your favorite memory or story from your time at Grier?

My favorite memory would have to be in the Spring of 2020 during my 9th grade year. The Performance Choir took a trip to Temple University for a Choir Festival. The weekend overall was spectacular but, I had bonded with the girl who has now become my best friend. I’m forever grateful for that weekend.

What are you most excited about for this year?

    The Spring Musical

What is your favorite tradition at Grier and why?

My favorite tradition at Grier is the Candlelight Ceremony. This is my favorite tradition because it truly shows and celebrates how special each student's time is that they have spent at Grier. I believe it makes every student's graduation very meaningful to them.

What advice or message would you share with future Grier Girls?

Your hard work and long days will always pay off, and they are so rewarding.

Just for fun - what is your favorite class, quote, book, recipe, movie, tv show, or podcast?

My favorite quote is “I've been called many names like perfectionist, difficult and obsessive. I think it takes obsession, takes searching for the details for any artist to be good.” - Barbra Streisand

Grier has truly become my home. I’m eternally grateful for every moment I’ve gotten to experience being a Grier Girl.

Thank you, Grace, for sharing with us!
