Students Celebrate Global Cuisine with International Food Bazaar
On Sunday afternoon, Grier students enjoyed a taste of the world at a special event, the International Food Bazaar. Twelve student teams representing a variety of global cuisines planned, cooked, and served food to about 120 fellow students! The event was conceived and spearheaded by junior, Flora W.
The bazaar was largely student-led, with faculty and staff members serving only as facilitators. Teams prepared recipes and shopping lists in advance so that Grier's Kitchen could acquire the necessary ingredients. Groups cooked and prepared their food in faculty houses and dorm kitchens.
Cuisines represented included:
China, Northern
China, Southern
France
Haiti
Israel
Italy
Jewish Faith
Korea
Mexico
Nigeria
Poland
Russia
United States
Vietnam
To enrich the experience, event leader Flora also designed keepsake passport booklets. Students who toured the stations of food in the Auditorium received a stamp in their passports at each stop.
