Women Rock! Theme of 2018 Rock Fest

Grier musicians and vocalists took to the Auditorium stage Friday evening for Grier's wildest music concert of the year: Rock Fest! The student-faculty Rock Band performed over twenty new and classic pop and rock songs made famous by female performers.
The students who performed are a part of Rock Band, one of Grier's music ensembles. Musicians included drummer Rebecca W., guitarists Riley F., Grace L., and Vivian Y., and keyboard by Amy T.

Along with music teachers Mrs. Neumuller, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Dennis, and Mr. Folsom, Photography teacher Mr. Pingry and English teacher Mr. Lang accompanied the students for an exciting show.

Grier students, faculty and staff members, and their families came out for the fun evening of music that covered several decades. The group started out early on with En Vogue’s My Lovin’. A sunglass-wearing Cas C. sang Taylor Swift’s edgy Look What You Made Me Do, Amy Y. rocked Elle King’s Exes and Ohs, and Soaleze B. moved us with Andra Day’s Rise Up. Riley F. covered 90s girl rocker Alanis Morrisette’s Hand in My Pocket complete with harmonica solo. Katie S. performed an unforgettable version of Megan Trainor’s Me Too. Cherry L. sang Pink’s What About Us? Katie M. provided vocals for several songs, including Haim’s Want You Back. Grace W. sang Cyndi Lauper’s Time After Time. The concert closed out with the famous 1970s hit from ABBA, Dancing Queen.

Grier student musicians and vocalists rocked this concert and showed the audience that hard work at practices pays off with great results, catchy beats, and glorious harmonies. Rock Band is directed by Music Department Head Mrs. Barb Neumuller and vocal instructor Mrs. Julie Hanlon.
