Teas for Bees NHS Fundraiser for Global Hunger Relief
Bzzzz! Grier's National Honor Society (NHS) is sponsoring a Teas for Bees fund raiser to raise money for the global hunger relief charity Heifer International through the sales of tea. This is a nod to NHS's previous cleverly-titled fund raisers "Totes for Goats," "Shirts for Sheep," "Tops for Crops," and "Pants for Plants."
For the Teas for Bees fund raiser, NHS members sell tins of tea blends featuring a bee design. The proceeds go towards Heifer International for the purchase of honeybees for families in need. Senior Olivia A. designed this year’s custom graphic that features a bee in a top hat and monocle sipping from a tea cup.
Tea flavors include:
TAHITIAN VANILLA TEA
Created with luxuriously rich French Polynesian vanilla and rose petals picked from the finest blossoms, this Oolong tea is ooh la worthy. Supports the health of the heart, hair, skin and teeth, rich in antioxidants and high in vitamin C.

ROSE PETALS TEA

APRICOT & PEACH TEA
This bold and lightly smoky gunpowder green tea provides an extra shot of caffeine that can boost endurance. Antioxidants support good health. Tantalizing peach and apricot flavors add a blast of sweetness.

How do honeybees help relieve world hunger?
According to information on the Heifer International website:
- Honey is the only food that includes all the essential elements necessary to sustain life, including enzymes, vitamins, minerals and even water. Its unique chemical makeup also allows it to be preserved indefinitely.
- In the process of searching for nectar, bees pollinate plants. The placement of a single colony can potentially double local fruit and vegetable yields.
- Many farmers that keep bees are able to harvest honey during the non-growing season to earn extra income, producing 60 pounds or more of honey each year.
Each tin is $10. NHS urges, “Let's BEE honest, you can't name a better duo than bees and teas, so save the bees and buy some teas!”
