NHS Induction Ceremony Welcomes New Members

In a special all-school assembly on Monday, May 21st, the Grier chapter of the National Honor Society inducted fourteen new members. These individuals exemplified the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.
After words from organization advisor, Mrs. Michele Thibodeau, current NHS members performed the official ceremony, which included a symbolic lighting of candles.

As NHS members, Grier students have additional opportunities to lead and serve Grier and the local community. During the 2017-2018 school year, NHS members led several community service events. During Parents Weekend in October, the club hosted a 5K walk/run and connected with local eatery Spruce Creek Bakery to raise money for a Hurricane Irma Relief Fund. The club has a strong partnership with the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library and helped with Halloween and Holiday events. To foster kindness and serve the Grier community, NHS orchestrated a Secret Santa gift exchange. In February, the group led Grier in celebrating “I am Beautiful Day” by creating and posting inspiring posters and producing a video about individual beauty. In the spring, the club sold Tea for Bees to raise money for Heifer International.

Congratulations to these new members as they join the team of returning members in the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.
