This year, three Grier students received the National Merit® Scholarship Program Commendation. Seniors Michelle S, Heather P, and Rachel L each received the commendations in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.
According to the National Merit® Scholarship website, the program "is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships" that college-bound U.S. citizen high school students enter by taking the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) exam. This year, the National Merit® Scholarship organization considered 1.6 million entrants, but only about 34,000 students received Letters of Commendation.
While the commendation doesn't include direct scholarship funds from the National Merit® program, it does open the door to other scholarships. Grier is very proud of these bright young women for their outstanding academic excellence.
